Last evening we received the first measurable snow of the season. I know that a lot of people don't like the cold and snow, which is very understandable, but I happen not to be one of those people. I love the snow and cold and the beauty that it brings with it.
I guess that is in part to one of the best memories from when I was a kid/teenager and my family burned wood for our source of heat. Every Saturday my Dad, brother, and myself would go to the woods, to chop wood for the next week. I always especially enjoyed it during the winter while it was snowing. Standing in the woods, watching the snow fall silently and gently between the trees, was so peaceful and calming. Then, after loading up all the wood, we would go back to the farmhouse to have a cozy time of some hot cocoa and popcorn as we sat around the wood burning heater getting warmed both physically as well as mentally.
While I no longer burn wood as a source of heat, the beauty of that memory lives on. Take some time this season to not only enjoy the beauty of the season, but to build some wonderful winter memories for you and your loved ones.
On a side note, in the past, I wrote a blog on peasant bread. In the blog, I made a link to Southernprepper1 YouTube video about making bread on top of a wood stove. In case you weren't aware of this, Southernprepper1, along with his son, are also volunteer firefighters. Early yesterday morning, while they were responding to a structure fire, the fire truck that they were riding in was involved in an accident and overturned. Southernprepper1, his son, and the driver of the fire truck were all injured. While the driver and Southernprepper1, have been discharged, the son remains in the hospital. If you have the chance, please remember this young man in your prayers as he recovers from his injuries....as well as for all of those that were involved in the accident.
The following video is from SP1 YouTube channel, telling more about the accident and asking for prayer.
Thanks for reading and visiting my blog. :-)
