When planting seeds or transplanting
plants into your garden, it is always wise to use some kind
of gauge to make sure the seeds/plants are planted at the correct
depth and that they are spaced evenly apart.
What I have found to be the easiest way
to do this is for depth is to place a rubber band or rubber “O-ring”
on a craft stick or dowel at the desired depth. Then stick it in the
ground to the marker to make a hole for the seed at the depth you are wanting.
For spacing, use rubber bands on the
handle of a rake or hoe marking the desired distance. Lay the rake
or hoe along side the row that you will be planting and so you can
see at a glance where to dig a hole for your next plant.
